Philip C. Hopewell, MD

Dr. Hopewell is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He is also the Co-Principal Investigator for the Curry International Tuberculosis Center, as well as numerous studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Over the past decade, Dr. Hopewell has served as president of the American Thoracic Society, the California Tuberculosis Controllers Association and the North American Region of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. He has served as a consultant to state, federal and international agencies, including the national tuberculosis programs of Peru and Columbia, the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization. Dr. Hopewell is an Associate Editor for Tubercle and Lung Disease and has served on the editorial boards of several academic publications.
