Directions to the National Tuberculosis Center

The Francis J. Curry National Tuberculosis Center (CNTC) is located at 3180 - 18th Street San Francisco. The Victorian-style four-story building is on the northeast corner of 18th and Folsom Street.

Driving from the East Bay (across the Bay Bridge)
Take 80 West to 101 South to the Civic Center/Ninth Street exit. Stay in the lane which feeds into Harrison Street. Proceed on Harrison Street to 18th Street. At 18th Street turn right, and drive two blocks. The entrance to the CNTC will be on your right, just before Folsom Street.

Driving across the Golden Gate Bridge
Take the Lombard Street exit and proceed east on Lombard. At Van Ness Avenue turn right. Van Ness Avenue will become South Van Ness Avenue. On 18th Street turn left and cross Folsom Street. The entrance to the CNTC will be the first door on your left.

Driving from the Peninsula (from Highway 101 North or 280 North)
From 280: Take 280 North to 101 North. Use directions "From 101." From 101: Take 101 North to the Cesar Chavez Street (formerly Army St.) exit. Stay to your left and go under the overpass. Take the Potrero Street exit and proceed north on Potrero to 18th Street. At 18th Street turn left. At Harrison Street turn right. At the stop sign turn left onto 18th Street. Drive two blocks. The entrance to the CNTC will be on your right, just before Folsom Street.

BART from the East Bay
Take the San Francisco/Colma bound train and exit at the 16th Street station. When leaving the BART station, Walgreen's pharmacy should be to your left and Payless Shoes Store to your right. Walk east on 16th Street to Folsom Street. At Folsom Street turn right. Proceed south on Folsom Street to 18th Street. At 18th Street turn left. The entrance to the CNTC will be the first door on your left.

BART from Daly City
Take any East Bay bound train (Richmond, Pittsburg/Bay Point, or Fremont) and exit at the 16th Street station. When leaving the BART station, Walgreen's pharmacy should be to your left and Payless Shoes Store to your right. Walk east on 16th Street to Folsom Street. At Folsom Street turn right. Proceed south on Folsom Street to 18th Street. At 18th Street turn left. The entrance to the CNTC will be the first door on your left.

Campus Shuttle
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) provides a free shuttle service, which runs between several different UCSF campus locations; including Mount Zion Hospital on Divisadero Street, San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) on Potrero Street, and UCSF Moffitt and Long Hospitals on Parnassus Avenue. These shuttles interconnect with each other at the main UCSF campus on Parnassus.

The CNTC shuttle stop is identified as the "CPC" stop on the shuttle schedule.

When taking the SFGH-UCSF route, the shuttle can be caught in front of SFGH's main inpatient entrance.

When taking the UCSF-SFGH route, the shuttle can be caught in front of the Langley Porter building at 401 Parnassus Street.

The shuttle coming from Mt. Zion Medical Center on 1600 Divisadero Street stops first at UCSF. It then proceeds on to SFGH.

Public Transportation
Muni buses stop within walking distance (for further information about the San Francisco Municipal Railway, call 673-MUNI):

12 Folsom (stops @ 18th & Folsom St.)

14 Mission (stops @ 18th & Mission St.; walk 2 blocks east on 18th St.)

22 Filmore (stops @ 16th & Folsom St.; walk 2 blocks south on Folsom St.)

33 Ashbury (stops @ 18th & Mission St., and @ 16th and Folsom St.)

53 Southern Heights (stops @ 16th & Folsom St.; walk 2 blocks south on Folsom St.)

Parking
Unrestricted street parking is usually available east of the CNTC on or around Harrison Street. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to locate a parking spot. Be observant of all parking signs. Vehicles in violation of parking restrictions will be ticketed and/or towed. A public parking lot is available at the corner of 17th and Folsom Street (entrance on Shotwell Street). Due to limited parking in the neighborhood, it is strongly recommended that visitors take the UCSF shuttle or public transportation if at all possible.
